My horse has had a lump on his back for ages, he has been seen by a back man and he said its nothing to worry about.

But now he has no hair on in? He has been on box rest and put on weight, so i have put it down to a slight change in shape? He is nearly back to his normal weight now.

It does not bother him at all, but just would like to know what it is, and if it will go? Is there anything i can do to help it go?

Ideas?

Where exactly is this lump? And what type of lump are we talking?

Is it soft and squishy or hard? Is it just a swelling or does there feel like theres something under the skin? Is it scabby or just "there" ?

Its to the side of his spine, around the saddle area. Its not a scab, its soft to touch. It has no hair just skin.

Thanks.

One of my nags has three lumps under the saddle area had them for a year. They are hard to touch but dont bother her. One has had the hair rubbed off and the skin is a little red. When this happens i just rest her for a few days until the skin hardens up again and she is all right for ages. They could be sweat bumps or collagen necrosis which is very hard to get rid of. Washing with hibi scrub after exercise will help if she has been sweaty. I have spoken to my saddler as i thought it might be that but it was'nt, he however gave my an address for some potion from a natural remedy guy. The saddler said he has seen more of these lumps in the past few years and this stuff is supposed to be the bizzz. It is expensive but i will put a post on the forum once i get it and use it. If it is any good i will put the details out as there is no sense every one being skint if it is no good.
