hi all.

i brought my horse in on sunday afternoon & noticed he had quite a deep overeach on the bulb of his foot on his off fore leg. I cleaned it up & seems ok but a little sore.

However the next day i noticed that the inside of his cannon bone on the same leg has a lump on it - probably about 5cm long roughly in the middle. It is hard to touch but he is sore on it when you press it however seems sound in the walk (ive not schooled because of it).

Im guessing that he has pratted around (in a paddock on his own but next to all the others) in the field & clouted it with his other leg somehow.

Not really sure of the best way to treat this so would welcome any advice guys.

thanks.
dan.

My yearling had a puncture wound on his cannon bone from another horse biting and chasing him. A hard lump also formed (about a week later), at first I thought it maybe a slight infection but after an x-ray it turns out he has chipped his cannon bone. Another x-ray next Monday to see whether it's improved, but the hard lump is still there and it's been about 6 weeks since the incident.

If in doubt, call the vet.
