This could be long, here goes....

My horse, a 15 year old TB had hock injections in March following naughtiness when jumping, he has arthritis in both hocks. He came back better than ever and the vet was happy for us to continue jumping. (We don't jump big, 90cm max) 3 1/2 months later he began stopping again and was sore in his hocks so the vet has injected them again. After 2 weeks he wasn't quite right still. Must add that this time I was having trouble cantering on the right rein which wasn't an issue before the 1st injections :-( he was better but not quite right. Now a week ago, his front fetlock blew up, but he had a small cut in his heal and he doesn't have the best immune system, so I cleaned him up and ignored the swelling. He wasn't lame but we were still having the right canter issues. The swelling went down with exercise so I ignored it but kept the cut clean. The swelling has now gone but he now has a lump on the front of his cannon bone, not lame, I can press it and it doesn't hurt, is almost grissley. Initially thought maybe sore shins, compensating for the hocks. Which is what I've told the vet. Now the vet has put him on a 10 day Bute trial to see if the canter issue is behaviour related which I didn't think. Now I'm thinking that the cannon bone lump is extensor tendon? But would he be lame with that? He can now canter on the right rein on the Bute so something is going on? The lump is on the right fore but the canter problems were way before that appeared. Has he done that by over compensating? Am I doing damage to it while he's on Bute? Vet just said that won't help but was happy for the Bute trial to go ahead. Does anyone have any experience of either problem? Wish he could talk to me :-(
