Lump on front of leg

My youngster injured his leg last year back in August and had a nasty cut on the front with a huge lump - vet treated the cut which heeled up fine but was still left with a lump on his leg.

The lump moved within the first 3 months round to the side of his leg - the vet reassessed and said as he is only 2 i should treat it as a splint type injury and just leave it to heal on its own. Over the next 3 months the lump then moved again back round to the front of the leg (not quite central this time).

The lump is hard and does not seem to affect him at all!

He won his class at the Suffolk Show yesterday and the judge said we need to sort this lump out otherwise it would ruin the rest of his showing career.
Anyone ever had anything like this? Anyone know what it could be? Do you think i should get it x-rayed? Anyone ever tried blistering?
 
Well vets said as it is not not causing any problems we should leave it and hope that it heals naturally. Do you think i should get the vet to x-ray it and see if he can see whats going on? Or do you think scanning the leg would be better?
 
As above- try tensolvet- v good for that sort of thing, also when my horse had a soft splint when he was 4 i was told by my vet at the time to compress it with cold boots which seemed to do the trick.

This is the lump... can you see it on the inside of the leg at the front! Is this too forward to be a splint?

My horse also has a lump on her leg, although it did not move places - that is a bit strange.

Eventually the whole leg started to fill and I took her to get a scan. It showed a small foreign body in there 2.2mm long. To cut a long story short I was told the infection would keep flaring up and she had it removed 2 weeks ago. She is recovering well.

If yours is not causing any problems then I suspect that the vets advice would be to leave it in place.

If you want to find out what the issue is then I think I would try having a scan.
