Hi, I am new to the forum so hello everyone!

I have had my horse, Lizzy vetted today as I am selling her. However during the vetting the vet noticed a large hard lumpy mass above Lizzy's eye (all around the sub orbital depression). It feels bony to me, not soft at all. I have had Liz for 3 years and not took any notice of it until now, when it's been pointed out to me. Now I can see that her right side is more lumpy than the left. I have booked her in for a head x-ray tmrw but i'm really worried it's something sinister?! Could it be a cancerous lump? I'm pretty sure it hasn't changed in the 3 years I have had her.

Would appreciate any advice

Sarah

Hello there, I'm new on here too, so hello!

My mare went out on loan and came back with a similar lump, the vet said it could be a tumour but could be a site of trauma (e.g. being kicked by another horse) which has caused bone to calcify. That was 7 years ago, she still has the bony lump and it's never been a problem, so it might not all be doom and gloom!
