Anybody else had or seen anything similar??
Came literally overnight - we thought perhaps he'd bumped his head - but vet thinks its either sinus/tooth root related ... he's coming to do xrays but just wondered if anyone else had experienced anything like this?

Looks like he has had a head trauma. The fissure lines between the different bones of the skull can move/enlarge if a horse bumps his head hard enough - usually at the poll. Takes a few months to settle down again. Could be a tooth issue but that swelling looks like it tracks a line straight across the flat surface of his face so not technically In the region of the teeth.

Well about 2 nights before he'd been left in (cold so had a fleece on) and when I got there in the morning he was drenched ... the lump appeared and the fur on his face (either side on jaw) completely came off ... very strange ... he's got no nose discharge, not smelly, eating as normal ...??

My horse got lumps which the fur fell off a couple of years ago. They were on the side of his face though and we just put it down to fly bite reaction, or maybe tick reaction as they kind of went a little crusty on top.
Your bump looks quite high up for a tooth issue though I guess an infection would tie in with him being drenched in the morning.
Will be interesting to hear the radiograph results.

Hmm strang isnt it ... its as though its something under the skin as xant see any puncture marks, etc ... fur still on the bump, it was the side of his face it fell off!?

OMG my horse has had this for about 4 years and i get fed up with people asking me what he has done.....vet thinks he bashed himself and cracked his nose at the time?? Have never seen any other horse with this though so yours is quiet interesting!

How strange?? Did tyou ever get xrays done? Will tell you what my vet says when he's been

No i did not get xrays done as it never bothered him...only the day he did it he had a bit of a nosebleed, i think he came charging down the field thats on a bit of a slope and sommersorted over and bashed it then, it doesnt bother him now and his teeth have always been fine touch wood....(wish his legs were the same)!!!!
