Where the jaw is, there is an indentation inbetween the two bones...well where that is, my horses is swollen and puffy, it's not causing him any trouble from the looks of it and it's not sore, but I was just wondering if anyone knew what this might be caused by?

Is it soft and does it move when you push it? Could be swollen gland? Are there any lumps round his cheek line or the base of his ears? Possibly an allergy?

My 18 year old mare has always had that and I have her 13 years. A vet was told it was her tonsils but it was nothing to worry about so I didn't and I've never had any reason to worry either.I'm interested now to know what it really is as I never questioned the answer I got!!

The whole are of his jaw which is usually inwards is puffy. So basically the size of the whole underneath of his head. It's soft, feels almost fluidy but it's been there about a week and shows no sign of it going down, there was a tiny mark at the bottom of his jaw which made me think it was a sting, but I didn't think it would swell up that much for this long. Someone suggested it might be his tongue but I can't see any noticable problems anywhere :/

My yearling recently had an abscess on her lower jaw, started off as a small swelling. The vet reckoned mostl likely blackthorn or similar had punctured the skin. She had to be on anti-biotics for a week to sort it out as the infection spread to her tooth cavities.
I would say don't worry unless it gets bigger, you will know when to worry and call the vet!
