Hi, this is my first time posting in this part of the forum so hello! Thought it best to post this here as someone might know....

I found 4 ticks on my boy last week. 2 of them were horrid orange things and where they bit, there is now a lump. The lump was there when I found the ticks so assuming it was a reaction, but I thought it would have gone down once they were removed?

It's definitely just under the skin, as I can pull the skin away and feel the lump. It's like a hard pea size ball... I'm just wondering if it's something I should worry about/do something about? Or whether is should go away of it's own accord?

Any ideas/advice, greatly appreciated. Thanks :)

Horse I know had one last year and the lump took a while to go down. Hers was bathed just with salt water and it eventually cleared up.

Our horses get ticks quite often. I find the black small ones are fine. The orange ones are the nasty ones which leave a lump. The lump can go septic and obviously needs cleaning and squeezing. Otherwise I'd just leave them be.
