Just wondering really if anyone has had or seen a horse who has had colic surgery and what thier belly looked like? My horse had surgery 9 weeks ago and she still has lumps! She had a large odema when she came back that went down within a few weeks but she still has lumps! Hard to descibe but she has 1 like an extra belly at the front half then the 2nd half is like a lump each side of the scar! Otherwise it all looks good and shes fine in herself other than being extremely grumpy!! I will speak to the vets but I was just wondering if anyone has seen these and if they are normal!! I was hoping it might just be because she has lost most of her muscle so doesnt have her stomach ones to' hold it all in'!!!
Sorry all a bit long and babbly but if anyone gets the idea of what I'm talking about!!! I will try and get some pictures. Thankyou

Yes she was going out 3 or 4 times a day for grass and walking about then. Shes just started going out in the field for an hour but only 2 days ago and she's been on the end of the lunge rope! But she can't stand in 1 place when she eats grass, shes all over the place! And then I take he out again for a nibbe later.

Have you got any pictures of the lumps?

It sounds as though it is just a fluidy build up which when she starts walking about more will disperse. I did not have this after Grace's colic operation, but I am pretty sure DublinBay did with her boy after his... it may be worth PMing her as I think it has all now gone down.

As long as the wound itself is looking good and nothing is coming out of it, then it does sound as though it is nothing more than an odema.
