Lumps/bumps should I call the vet

Hi
I noticed that my horse has a lump on his knee. It’s hard to touch/ doesn’t move around and doesn’t seem to cause him any pain and he’s not looking lame. Just a little worried about what it is.
he itches quite a bit so thought he could have just banged it on a gate or something. His legs are clipped as trying to deal with the itching problem.
Should I be worried? Tia

Weirdly my chap has developed a similar bony lump, but just adjacent to his knee joint/at top of cannon bone.

I take the view that a. it is cold b. he shows no reaction to me touching it. and c. he is sound. Therefore I will just keep an eye on it and only call the vet if anything of the a-c changes.

Is the lump hot? If so cold hosing may help.....

it’s not hot but I cold hosed anyway. Thats what I’m thinking too. If it doesn’t go down soon or seems to be bothering him I will call the vet.

I haven’t. I’m thinking he’s banged it on a gate or something so will keep and eye on it

Not lame, not hot, not sore. I wouldn't be calling a vet any time soon.

If you’re worried you could call your vet and ask? They will be happy to give you some advice although I don’t think they’d need to come out yet. I expect if it’s not causing him pain or lameness they will tell you to give him a few days off and see how he’s doing in case it is just a bruise. If it doesn’t go down I would then call the vet and ask if they could come out and have a look. I do generally err on the side of caution though.
