Lumps on his belly?

I noticed today that Enys had lots of lumps on his belly - I thought before that his muscles looked very pronounced but these are definitely lumps.

Just wondering if anyone knows what they are? My first guess would be he's laid down on an ants nest but he doesn't pull faces at me when I touch them (he is incredibly grumpy normally, so anything that hurt he would be sure to tell me by trying to take a chunk out of my arm :D).

The other thing that I wondered is whether they could be related to his accident? Where he had swellings all under his belly (though not lumps) for a few months and now that he's muscles up it's gone all funny (though I am probably being paranoid.

What do you guys think? If they don't hurt should I leave them or put something on them?

(they look bigger and more ugly when you see them for real, couldn't take a very good picture)

Personally I'd give them a few days incase it is a reaction to something he has lay on and if not gone down or got worse call the vet out asap.

How weird my mare has came up with exactly the same a few days ago!
But as she lives out 24/7 at the moment and right next to a river ive put them down to some sort of insect bite when she's laid down, they dont seem to bother her and a few of the have disappeared now :)

Couple of weeks ago, Bridie came out in lumps like those over most of her body. She looked like hairy chestnut bubble wrap. Hives/urticaria. Didn't ride her for 3 days and they disappeared on their own.

Ours are next to a river too...but only Enys has the lumps. They were down this morning, so will check this eve and see if they have swollen up again during the day.
