Ok so I clipped my mare again today and she has little lumps all over her quarters and on the right side there on her belly/side aswell. Im rather baffled as to were they've come from tbh, so il start from the beginning to see if anyone can help me, please ... Ok so a week before the lumps arrived around 24th Oct all of her legs swoll up and she could barely walk, vet came out and thought it was the haylage or feed related, at that time we had recently changed her feed to 1 scoop Fast fibre, pink powder and 1 scoop Hi-Fi lite (had been on this for a month or so). So for the next two days i upped the Hi-Fi and decreased the haylage until i got hay, by this stage she had started to come up in a few lumps on her quarters and became a bit unsettled (as fresh as a daisy). We suspected the Hi-Fi for the lumps so took it off her and stuck with the hay, FF and PP. Her legs were swollen for about a week and then they were normal BUT then I bathed her ready to clip at the start of Nov and the next day her pasterns were slightly swollen (I clipped her and the lumps were still there) i bandaged her for a few days and she was fine again. Anyway she was on the hay for a month or so and i changed her back to haylage start of Dec with no ill effects (I never have had problems with it anyway) so im inclined to think the swollen legs were due to the very wet field she was in as her legs got worse when they got wet but the lumps are still there 2 months later!! Iv now taken her off the Fast fibre and Pink powder (just last week) and moved her back onto a mix which shes had before with no problems but its not a permanent fix as its high in starch and her barefoot hinds were doing well on the Fast fibre (the white lines started separating and there now nearly normal) ... But im baffled as to why she has these lumps!! The only thing I can think of is protein lumps or something related to being to hot, which i dont think she is!! Shes not itchy or anything ... Anyone any ideas?
