Hi, this is my first post on H&H & apoligies in advance for the long post but I am very worried about my little mare.
I have had my 15hh connie X mare for the last 9 months. She is my first horse. Around xmas I noticed she had gotten a few lumps on her shoulders and side. My YO had a look and thought she might be allergic to something I had used. I changed the washing powder I used for her numnahs etc and rinsed them twice etc. washed her brushes - all the usual. Vet was out in Feb to do her flu vacc and he examined them then and said she could be allergic to her hard feed, so that was cut for a month but a few more lumps appeared. Then a week or two later she developed a cough - at first it was very intermittent then within a week was quite frequent. Vet came out last week and scoped her - which was clear. He diagnosed a mild dust allergy, so her hay was soaked and we moved her to a better ventilated stable (she is in an american barn) & he prescribed ventipulmen. The lumps were still bothering me so at the same time I got him to remove two of them and send them for a biopsy. I think everyone thought I was mad, including the vet, as 99.9% of the time these kind of lumps mean nothing at all. Well not these lumps :(
The lab came back saying the lumps were an Eosinophilic Granuloma. The vet is now coming to do a lung wash as the ventipulmen hasn't cleared her cough which is unusual apparently. If anything the cough has gotten worse and she is on the ventipulmen a week today. He is trying to ascertian whether these Eosinophilic Granulomas are in her lungs
Just wondering has anyone experienced anything like this. Thanks so much.

have you had blood taken and an allergy test done? my mare had some re occuring lumps and seemed to go away and come back and go away etc etc with things we changed and turns out shes allergic to grass and mites - suppose it allways possible something like that could be going on with yours - reacting to something shes eating/ touching but also inhaling?? just a thought
