Hi,

Looking for a some advice. I brought horse in from the field tonight and took rug off and was giving him a brush, after a few mins I noticed that he had a lump (or bump may be a better way to describe it) on his bum. At first I thought it may be the way he was standing so moved him towards the front of the stable standing more evenly. It was still very noticable to me and I checked him all over and found another smaller lump on his back near his spine. I felt around for a bit and it did not hurt him or bother him in the slightest ( hay was more importiant ;) )

I am a little concerned as he has always been a driving horse and is currently being 'trained to the saddle' and going very well. He is being ridden out in walk only just now but dont think he sould be ridden until he is checked over by a vet/proffesional.

I know im rambling a bit, hope this makes sense! Any advice would be appreciated :) x

Hi

My pony (also a drive and ride pony) had lumps sounding similar to this & exactly in the same place, didn't bother him either.
My vet said they were most likely calcium lumps, to keep an eye & call if they got any worse - they have now disappeared.

If your worried call your vet - better to check than leave to chance :)

How large are they? I've seen a few horses recently with blocked sweat glands where the mild weather has led to horses' being too warm in their rugs. These are normally the same size as your 'average' fly bite. Calcium lumps sound very feasible too as Bailey67 says.
