About 2 days ago my horse got what look like massive fly bites on his croup quite close to his tale and then on his left flank. They're lumps about the size of a 2p coin, and they ooze. At first they were a lump with an oozing head, now they've scabbed over and when I was wash them the scabs come off and take all the fur with it leaving raw skin. Any ideas to what they are/how to treat them? So far I've washed them and put aloe vera gel to help soothe them. They don't bother him at all, he's very happy for me to poke and prod them as much as I like!
He had the exact same thing last year around this time and all around his back legs. Then he wasn't rugged because the weather was good but now he is so don't think they're fly bites? He's also white if that helps so sensitive skin?
Sorry it's kinda lengthy, hope it makes sense
