I want to get a round pen to lunge in. I just want the outside fencing structure as will put it on the grass. I've seen 'intelligent horsemanship' ones which are exactly what I want. Does anyone know how I can get one? Plus, how much one will cost? Any details would be great! Many thanks

I don't know how much they are in the UK. They are about $5,000 for a heavy duty one over here and about $3,000 for a lightweight one.

I know I have a heavyweight one but that is because we can't hammer posts into the ground over here....whereas you can! That is the way I would go to be honest - will save you an awful lot of money.

Make sure you get one at least 60ft round, mine is 65ft and my one in the UK was 45ft and I outgrew that in absolutely no time!

You can build one yourself - I personally hate them. Horses lean and are run up them. Unless I was working babies, I would stay out of them!

I have to agree totally with GTs here - I do work babies which is why I occasionally use mine, however I don't use it much I have to say.

Security fencing which is called Herris fencing works a treat and a fraction of the price. Also really easy to move around if need be. I picked up enough fencing to make a decent sized one for peanuts in the local free adds.

That's great thanks - will check all that out. I would use it for babies mostly because I do a lot of backing n breaking in. Also, my plan is to put a gazebo (sp?)-type thing to create a roof so that when it rains I can still exercise my horses by lunging them undercover in the round pen!

Any idea where I can get hold of some Herris fencing? Googled it without much luck!
