I'm lungeing ponio atm for weightloss. It's also proving to be alot of fun for him, and he's actually learnt to canter!
.
I'm going down late afternoon due to the heat, and lunge him for a good 10 minutes on each rein. Lots of trotting, transistions (and bucking). But he rarely even breaks a sweat. And if he does it's only where his roller and bridle have been.
I was told he'd need to break a good sweat each time in order for him to lose weight over a course of time. I think 10 minutes is plenty, and I do push him to work as opposed to just ambling round. I feel that in his current state it would be unfair of me to push him further.
So does he need to sweat in order to lose weight? And if so, how on earth do i acheive this?
