Lungeing - help please!

Okay, so I've been lungeing Midge and just having a slight problem .

Basically, if I have the schooling whip in my hand - no matter how low I hold it - she rushes round really fast. If I lunge her without the whip she just turns into the middle of the circle and comes up to me. Which is very sweet but not exactly what I want her to do.

How can I either:
A - Get her to slow down when I've got the schooling whip in my hand?, or
B - Keep her on the circle if I'm not holding the whip?

what about putting two lines on her (one on either side of the bit so when she turns in for a chat (lol) you can then pull on the outer line to keep her going. But your'll have to make sure that you are standing in the correct place as the outer line will drop. or better still use a good training aid.

try holding the whip so it is pointing away from her, instead of towards her (as in so it is sticking out behind you). You can then flick it round to encourage her forwards, but she can't see it when you don't use it.

When lunging ALWAYS keep your eye on the girth area, if you do this and drive your horse on then they cannot turn in, also if you ask your horse to stand and they don't do not ask them to face you always go to them, that way they will learn not too, I would just hold the whip until such time that she settles down and gets used to the fact that you are not going to bash her lights out with it.
Don't be too soft on her!
