I recently moved my mare to a new yard. She used to lunge really well. Walked, trotted and cantered when asked. Here though, she just canters round not listening. Should I let her canter and wait until she's ready to listen or not lunge her at all. She finds the new arena spooky but if i leave it she'll never get used to it.
Opinions please.

When I've moved mine in the past, it's taken them a good 4-6 weeks to settle in properly, and they're always more lively at the beginning.

4 to 6 weeks?? Are you serious?? I think you give them leway for 2 -3 days (especially if it was a long journey), after that it is unacceptable!!!

Can you ride her instead of lunging for a bit whilst she settles? That way you can work her properly to get her concentrating on you without risking her running around on the end of the lunge line and damaging herself/you/the arena surface. Or is she unbroken/not able to be ridden?
