Right, well I'm bored, so this is prob a bit blonde, but I usually lunge off the bridle with lunge line over head. I want to lunge with two reins, but I can't remember how to attach the second line via the roller, does that make sense? She can be a bit lazy behind and I think this will be more beneficial. Don't say buy a Pessoa as I haven't got one, and I want to lunge tonight.

Many Thanks

Both reins attach to bit on either side. Run the outside rein through roller as usual and then around her bottom above hocks.

Inside rein just attaches to bit.

Thanks, that's what I thought, but for some reason I couldn't picture it being long enough, mind you she is about 23ft long.

This only works if you have fairly low rings on your roller, if they are too high the lunge line flips over the back!

I find the best way is to put the saddle on, drop the stirrups and tie them together under the girth- then thread the lunge lines through the stirrup irons. Tie the irons quite tightly or they pull away from the side of the horse and give you lack of steering!

LOL!! Yes plenty rings. I have an older one, leather with leather pads on wither area and it also has a number of rings to use.

Good luck.

I normally use the saddle and stirrups - but have also used a roller.

I have started doing a little with Chancer like this - it is hard work for them, so I keep the sessions very short as he is still young.

Used to do a lot with my WB to encourage her to keep her bum under her rather than go along trailing behind.

Thanks, it was sucessful although she looked a little confused and for the first time in ages found something hard work. I thought I would see after if she kew how to long rein and she seemed to, although I never have in 7 years.

Cool!!

I rarely lunge but I do long-rein a lot and I generally lunge for one round just to get my lot started before I head out on a long-rein walk.

Pleased it went well - she's clever girl.

I hate lunging, but I do it to break up the week for her and when I can't be bothered to ride. Hmmm, maybe I'll start long reining, I need to lose weight.
