as title, there is nothing to my little lurcher pup and i think she may need a little rug for the colder wetter weather! am i right?

where shall i look for one, a regular dog one would be the wrong shape!

I dont want to get one if she wouldnt need one... I only thought because some of the walk to the yard she would have to walk on the lead.. so perhaps wouldnt be able to warm herself up enough? or am i being soft?

but having said that.. those newmarket style ones are certainly a must for every lurcher wardrobe?? :D

If she is going to wait around at the yard in the winter, she will probably do a good impression of a "sad" dog - whippets and lurchers are good at that... Do you know what mix she is - because some are much tougher about temperatures than straight whippets. My little JR x whippet, who looks like a small whippet, is tough as old boots. So long as mine are moving they don't care about the cold. It is only if they have to stand still that they shiver.

Mine have fab coats, never cost me a penny and only need a toweling down when wet;)
I agree though if she is standing around then a coat would be nice, but for blasting around on walks IMO they dont need em:p

Carey has some kind of 20tog duvet looking things on hers, im sure she will be along to tell you where she got em.
I have seen a really nice one somewhere, I think it was by barbour (sp)

try equafleece. I use them on my lurchers when it is cold and they are standing round the yard. They are water repellent, but not waterproof. And they are fantastic to throw on when they are soaked through as warm up immediately and dry them off.

Well I have a greyhound whippet X at home (Rodney), and i suggest one of two options, for a soft fleecy ruglet, we got a poncho type thing from GWRE, (Greyhound Rescue West of England) it is soft, comfy and even has a small neck cover. Its specially designed with these type of dogs in mind, so that they can go out for walks in the cold and can sleep if in a cold house environment. The other suggestion is the 3 peaks outdoor dog rug for wet walkies. This can be bought relatively cheaply from pets at home. Although its not specifically designed for this type of dog, we found that it did the job quite well, keeping Rodney warm and dry throughout the worst of the great british weather!

I love Countrymun coats for walking and a fleece for bedtime. Please don't run your hound in a coat though, unnecessary and has the potential for accidents!

I must be really soft as mine wear coats if it's cold and rainy when they don't feel much like running around anyway. They're brilliant but I have no idea where I got them....somewhere on ebay and if I remember I'll let you know!
