Hello

I was thinking of getting my share horse one of these. Specifically the menthol and mint one as she does cough to clear her throat at the beginning of work.

How long do they tend to last? Such as a tub on the floor in the stable. As it will be the mint one I'm worried the mare will gobble it up.

I know there are gadgets to attach to the wall but I am trying to do this on the cheap.

Thanking you

I don't use them (waste of money and full of sugar), but my friends horse would go through one a week if allowed!!

What about going for a mini one??

That way you can just use as a treat.

I use them & think they are fantastic. I give the Garlic one for his breathing (not the respiratory one - he doesn't like it) and I am convinced it has done him a lot good. He has the big tub (the paddoc variety to go on the floor) and gets it for about an hour every day. He used to go absolutely mad for it but since he knows he is getting it every day has settled to the idea - and even stops if he has had enough

Mind you - he does get a sticky brown face from the stuff - face wash required before I go anywhere near him

Oh, the mini ones didn't work for him - he is so greedy he actually tries to chew & gobble them up ... this doesn't happen with the big one.

Depends on your horse - mine has got the technique down so he can eat a whole likkit in the time it takes to pick out his feet.
The little likkits which are more difficult to get to take about 20 minutes.

But there are horses out there that are very restrained and gently lick it over a period of days so you may be OK.

If you didn't want to buy holders they have a hole down the middle so no reason why you couldn't hang it up with a piece of rope with a knot in the bottom.

They are high in sugar - on the website they say that 1 likkit has the same amount of sugar a horse would get in 2 hours grazing.
