Hi, has anyone had any experience with horses having Lyme disease?

What were their symptoms?

What was the test/treatment process?

In addition, what other blood tests would usually be run for an unknown issue (sensitive/poor immune system) and what sort of costs are involved with taking/processing bloods with vets?

TIA

There was a horse at my yard when I lived in Germany who got Lymes Disease but it was such a long time ago I can’t remember the symptoms (sorry).

A lady at our yard had bloods tested last week as unsure what was wrong with her horse (quiet, tucked up and had lost weight) and her bill for call out and tests is £368 so far.

There are also potential co-infections, such as bartonella and babesiosis, that should be tested for separately if Lyme is suspected.

Sure, I’ll speak to the vets in the morning and mention that too.
After his decline in happiness/behaviour and increased sensitivity etc I am suspecting that something is wrong. He is not his normal self at all.
He had an equibiome test in the summer which indicated him fighting some kind of pathogen and having low (non existent actually) resistance toward bartonella and borrelia. I didn’t think too much of it at the time, and followed the regime. But as the season has changed his behaviour has taken a drastic turn - which I have read can be a symptom of Lymes.

Good luck with him, I hope you can find some answers. I'm on the "is it Lyme/co-infection" journey myself.
