Has anyone experienced this Skin problem in their horses??? My horse has been diagnosed with it and its proving stubborn to get rid of.

He is now getting some blood salts and Milk thistle added to his diet to try and boost his levels and ecourage him to heal better and he was being walked out inhand twice a day but at the moment I am actually having to ride him as he was dragging me about even on he lunge lines and he ran away with the vet when the vet wanted to get him trotted up :o

Some pics, ignore the flies in one pic his legs got cleaned and treated before he was put bak to bed :)

Hes lost a bit of weight stressing as he hates box rest :( But I let him out in a small space today in the sun to let him chillax whilst I did his bed and he got his dinner in the sun next to his missus :) He gets his legs treated daily the one thing about the summer is flies and they just hone in on the wounds even whilst we are walking out. :( The cream I have to be careful with as if I get it onmy hand it reacts and I have been told only to put it on once a day as its got stuff in it that could in excess eat away at the healthy skin but it seems to be helping so as long as it is I will continue it :)

My friends TB has vasculitus. Was treated with a long course of penicillin which she had to inject i-m everyday for a few weeks. Took a long time to go but did eventually. Vet took lots of skin scrapings too.
Vasculitus is more common than realised. Presents similar to mud fever and most people think their horse has a bad case of it and wonder why it wont go!

I hope your horse heals soon.

Look into a product called Iodosorb Cream. Its used alot in humans to clean up stubbons wounds.

I used on a wound that refused to heal by any other method, within a week we had made huge progress.

Worth a try.
