Does anyone have any experience of multicentric lymphoma. My lovely boy had a biopsy yesterday and will get the results Tuesday. Have been reading up on it and some say 2 months life expectancy from diagnosis and some same 2 weeks from diagnosis to death. I am in such shock. Does anyone have any experience of all the lymph glands swelling up, the dog seeming normal in all other respects and it WASN'T cancer? Desperate for a lifeline here.

Hey there, I do not have much experience with lymphoma, no, but is cancer the diagnosis? Can you be sure of anything without getting the biopsy results first?

Hugs for you x

I hope others can be of more assistance than me, but try to sit tight and not panic - my boy showed all the signs of bladder cancer, right down to the coughing, nothing could have convinced me otherwise but it turned out to be a urinary tract infection...fingers crossed and hoping your worst fears are unfounded.

Hi this is my first post here but have been lurking for a while! I am not sure if I can be of any help, but just want you to know that I am feeling for you and your boy.

Two weeks ago one of my Cairns had a confirmed diagnosis of Lymphoma. Spencer came to me last August ( I volunteer for Cairn Rescue) aged 11 years, 99% blind and diabetic. I tried for 2 months to find him a home with someone I could trust to deal with his problems but eventually decided he could stay and become dog number 4! He just needed too much caer for me to trust other people.

Anyway 3 weeks ago we thought we had lost him. He suddenly went down hill. We also noticed the small lump under his jaw. The vet took samples and yes they are confirmed lymphoma. Chemo therapy was discussed, but due to the fact that he has the diabetes to deal with aswell we all feel (including the vet) that the extra few months the chemo would give him is just too much for his body to deal with.

He currently has perked up. He is still eating, has his two insulin jabs a day, and demands his daily 1/2 hour stroll and chases the chickens and the cat. We have decided to let him tell us when it is time to go. It is very hard looking at him living his life with total dignity knowing what is in store in the next few weeks. I spent a whole week in tears after I got the news, and I know I will spend more yet. But being a Cairn he is a stubborn old terrier and is refusing to go without a fight!

I lost my lurcher with lymphoma of the gut in Dec 2008 - I didnt wait for the biopsy results, they opened him up and the whole gut was massively inflamed, vets opinion was that even if he "just" had IBS his quality of life would be significantly impaired

He was PTS that evening, the biopsy results came back a few days later to confirm incurable, inoperable lymphoma.

He was my dog of a lifetime, and I miss him every day still, but I dont regret for a moment having him PTS when I did, he was unhappy and uncomfortable with persistent diarrhoea

Not a lot of help, we lost out JRT to lymphoma of the bowel a month ago, our vet recommended no biopsy as they often end up with peritonitis he lived four months from the discovery of his inflamed bowel to being pts when it had spread to his spine and stomach.
Hugs and good luck with the results.
