For those who have followed the story of the 'unbreakable' spotty horse, LyndseyH came up today to ride him for the first time. The video isn't actually the FIRST time - this morning she hacked out on Jazz with O. on Clyde, and then rode Clyde in the manege. This afternoon, she went straight onto Clyde, warmed up in the manege (when I took video) and then hacked out.

One of the NICEST things about taking horses for backing is seeing the grin on owners' faces when they ride their babies for the first time!! :D

Please pardon my heavy breathing - I have bronchitis at present (although I sound like I'm dying from emphysema!!) But my camera is ultra-sensitive!

It wasn't just the first time for Clyde having another horse in the school with him. The 4 year old ISH that O. is using as an armchair had never had company in the school (or been used as a grandstand!) before either. For something that arrived VERY sharp (and pig ignorant) I'm very pleased with him too!

(He'll make a VERY nice eventer for someone - if anyone is looking! The ISH, that is, not Clyde!)

I haven't watched them yet, but please everyone, excuse my shocking riding! I was rather sh*****g myself! I haven't ridden since december and have only ridden 5 times in the last year. Not really the ideal reintroduction but hey!

Off to watch vids back in a mo!

I think you rode him very well indeed!! It's HORRIBLY difficult riding ANY new horse 'in public' - and O. said you'd ridden Jazz very nicely too (and he's only a 4 year old!) And I didn't catch the one spook Clyde did with you - but you handled THAT very well - didn't panic or clutch him up - just sat quiet and rode through it!

Wow, how lovely to see Lindsay riding him, you have done such an amazing job, Clyde looks so much more grown up somehow, he looks really happy with his lot. Thank you to both of you for sharing this journey on here, it is so interesting.

WOOOOOO!!!! Watching the videos makes it seem so much more real! I had the most wonderful day It was like I took a wrong turn somewhere between the M5 and Kidderminster and ended up in a dream world! I really needed a day like today.

It's a shame I didn't video O riding him today, but I was just too stunned to do anything much. He looked incredible, like a proper little dressage horse! His canter was lovely. I wish I could ride him like that...

Well, my expectations have been well and truly blown out of the water. I'm amazed and ecstatic and it's going to take a couple of days to sink in!

Thanks, not that Jazz was very difficult. Such a smashing little (big) horse, I'd have happily taken him home. To be fair, I rode a bit better in the morning, I was already seizing up by the afternoon. After 3 hours in the car I can hardly move! I do normally find it a bit scary riding in front of people but I hardly did at all today. It isn't that sort of yard! Thank you all so much for everything you have done and especially to O for all his help today. He really helped my confidence.

Oops sorry, they're huge and I don't know how to make them smaller!

Well done both been following this thread since Lyndsey first posted her "what do I do with him thread" as I thought Clyde looked like a Black version of my chap.

Great to see the wonderful outcome.....I would be tempted to e-mail these video's to the guy that did the rubbish job on him the first time but then I am a vindictive so and so!

I have always followed Janets posts with interest and will continue to do so she has a totally no nonsense approach, and always posts complete common sense please continue to do so Janet.

Well done Lyndsey, let it all sink in for a few weeks lol.

Is he staying with Janet's team for bringing on?

Quite made my Sunday morning.

thats amazing, well done LindseyH :D you look so happy up there it is lovely :)

JanetGeorge you have done amazing things with that little horse and I have loved follewing his progress so thanks to you and LindseyH for allowing us to follow it through!

Well done look as though you are riding him very well, mine going for breaking next week hope he turns out so well costing me a fortune for the peace of mind that hes going to the right person to do the job after seeing people get there horses back with the same label hes unbreakble etc

How really lovely to see a young horse being allowed to go forward :D I get so fed up with seeing vids and stills of young horses being ridden like 6yo horses - it's great to see it being done properly. Well done to everyone, he is looking super :)

Thank you to all the lovely, lovely people on this forum who have followed Clyde's progress and said such kind things. It's been fab to have so much support, especially as I'm a worrier! I really am astounded and thrilled at how well he's going. To ride a horse that you've only been able to sit and look at for 4 years is an amazing feeling!

I hope it might give other people in a similar situation some hope and also impress the importance of starting a young horse correctly in the first place.

The only problem is, I should sell him but now I REALLY don't want to!
