Have you taken specialist advise on this?

Increasing the intake of lysine, assuming the hind gut will actually absorb it all and not just poo it out, could upset a whole load of other amino acid balances.

Why do you feel you need to increase?

oh lord of course i've considered it carefully. sigh, i've had horses for 30 years and not managed to kill any from mismanagement yet FFS.
the tendancy is to treat questions as if they're asked by a blithering idiot and it's trying.

if you have nothing useful to say don't say it please!!!!

thanks for nowt.

Sorry, just trying to be of help.

I find it is always better to gather as many of the facts as possible in these sorts of questions as there are times when people actually DONT know what the heck they are talking about.

On occasions that avoids uneccessary expence for the owner and discomfort for the horse.

My 40 years of experience is clearly wasted.

ho hum.

I think it was a reasonable question, a high dose for humans is 1g (1000mg). which you would take for cold sores amongst other things.

So does your horse have a simplex problem and is this why you want to feed them a high dose of lysine?

I'm sorry for my terse answer yesterday, so spaniel your 40 years beats my 30.

congratulations
