Want to show my 1yr old sec A colt this summer. He is chestnut with blaze and 4 whites, would a pretty leather collar look best or these white cotton material ones? Also do you have to wear a hat? I only have a fixed peak in black velvet with black straps, would this be ok?

Sec A's are usually shown in a white halter...you see a lot of people showing Welshies without a hat, however I personally never show anything in hand without a hat...I have a navy hat with flesh coloured strap...black hats are not good for showing really...a lot depends on what sort of level you are showing at...little shows you see all kinds of things right and wrong...I have seen judges mark purely on the pony and also seen judges mark the pony down because the handler is incorrect in some way...but that's showing for you!
