M&M workers/Measuring in

I think I have posted this in the right place.

I have a 14 hand section D that I want to do affiliated workers on, but I haven't done affiliated showing for a long time and don't know what I need in the way of memberships etc.

Also how do they split the M&ms or does that depend on the class?

I'm almost sure I will need her measuring in wont I?

I have tried to research the above but it's not as easy as you would think!

It depends what level you want to compete at. Most Workers go upto 12hh, 12-13.2hh, 13.2hh + So no need too worry about a height cert unless you are going to do HOYS quals which go -12hh, 12-13hh, 13hh-14hh, 14hh +. If you go in the 14hh+ section you wont need a height cert, if you want to do the 13-14hh section then you will.

Ive never seen any affiliated wh class split at 13.2hh it's always been 13hh or 14hh, for both plaited a and m&ms

Both NPS and Bsps split m&ms as follows:

Ponies not exceeding 122cms
Ponies exceeding 122cms not exceeding 133cms
Ponies exceeding 133cms not exceeding 143cms
Ponies exceeding 143cms

You will need a height cert for any class except the exceeding 143 class.
For hoys you will need a height certificate for all ponies if you qualify including those exceeding 143cms, this is to ensure the pony meets the breed standard

NPS and Bsps are the societies you need to join

M & Ms usually don't need a height cert for qualifiers - only once they get to HOYS. Not sure about workers but this is true for flat classes so may well be the same.
 
Welsh D's don't need a height cert for upper height limit classes as there is no upper height restriction on them. You would only need one for doing the smaller height class.

Most of the workers up here are 12, 13.2, 14.2hh for Natives. 12, 13, 14, 15 for plaited.

Affiliated ones shouldn't (op specifically asked about affiliated)

Also section d's do have to be measured if they go to hoys, to prove they meet the minimum height for section d's. It is quite a bone of contention amongst competitors
 
So, to clarify, you can compete in your section and (unless it's blatantly obvious your horse is too big) you won't be required to produce a height cert unless qualifying for say HOYS/RI etc?

Also, is it true that you don't necessarily have to be a member to enter some of these classes unless otherwise stated in the schedule?

You dont usually have to be a member of the society holding the show unless you qualify for their championship shows then you usually have to become a member (PUK is one exception, not sure if there are others)
