I really would love to do bigger and better showing with my boy. He's a sec D and not a bad looker really. My fave class is Mountain and Mooreland and every year (touch wood) we seem to do really well in it, if not win the class. I would love to go a little higher than the usual local shows around but am not sure of how to do this...is it just a case of loading and finding a county show or is there more to it than that? I have absolutly no idea what so ever so would really love some help if anyone has any ideas.

Thanks in advance xx

basicly you need to get hold of the secretarys address and get hold of a schedule, then you have to enter the show before the close of entries which for most county shows are about a month before the show, for th eM&M class you will be expected to provide his reg number and in most cases his breeding, this will normaly be checked and your entry will be rejected if it is wrong.
Once youve done your entries you will recieve your number and entry passes through the post before the show.
Then it is just a case of turning up, doing your class and hoping for the best.

Bare in mind that the rules for turnout are much stricter at county shows and the classes tend to be much much bigger.

Also if you want to qualify for champs shows then you will have to join the relevent society.

Ditto everything else said. A good place to look to start going to bigger shows is the websites of the showing societies. Try the British Show Pony Society and Ponies UK and you should find some shows local to you.

unfortunately most of the county shows for this year thier entries have closed (or the show been and gone), however you might be able to find a few with entries open if you are willing to travel

Have a look at PUK shows, you can enter them (horse has to be reg with WPCS) and if you qualify, then you become an adult member and reg your horse with them.

Their shows are really well run and even if you dont win, you get good experience. I have been with them for years now having shown my Welsh D and now I show my hunter with them as well.

Even if you dont fancy the MM classes, you can have a go at the Sir Lancelot classes for MM's. Have a look in HH show directory and it will tell you where the PUK shows are, go and watch first..........good luck
