Whats your mare like, because they are very different stallions
I used to own Georgeo II, he is a very sweet talented pony and I had some beautiful babes by him, I only sold him as I stopped breeding ponies. IMO he is good value for money, he has the breeding, conformation, temperament and talent to be a great sire and the few foals I saw were VERY nice indeed and I have sold one of mine to a top international SJ family.
Machno Carwyn is one the best show jumping pony stallion there is IMO and I often considered importing semen from him myself when I was breeding ponies and he was only available by frozen semen, it worked out too costly for me, they do/did have some of his semen at the stud that bred him in the UK but they were actually charging more for the semen than his owners in Switzerland so I never went ahead and used him.
If you are going to go down the frozen semen route, you may also want to consider Aron N and Linaro... LUSH!!
I am currently deciding if i should put my SJ pony into foal she has a super jump but a realativly offhand temperament with anyone else although i think this is largely due to her upbringing as im the only person she respects, but im thinking temperament wise i need a relatively saneish stally. So i was thinking that Georgio ll would be a better bet with temperament you must have been so lucky to own such a little superstar. Whereas Machno Carwyn has such power one hell of a jumping style, im being so indecisive as to what i want to go for. Do you know much about Aron N or Linaro?
Well Georgeo has a superb temperament, he was a very easy stallion to look after so temperament wise he would tick that box.
I think Georgeo would have achieved alot more if he had gone to another rider like Ellen when he left there, I have seen him jump and he turns himself inside out to clear a fence, he is a very careful pony and got a huge jump and technically very correct in his style!
Aron N and Linaro to me are just as good as Machno Carwyn competition wise, there are some pics on the link I put in my previous post, you click on each stallion and it brings up more info (in french) and more pics!
Have you a conformation pic of your pony and whats her breeding?
Another thumbs up for Georgeo. He was with us for a short time before going to his super new home with Teffy and I can honestly say he had the most lovely temperament you could ask for . . . and we have no experience with stallions whatsoever!! He could be turned out and travelled alongside my geldings and mares and fussed over and faffed about with my young daughter with no trouble at all.
We might have kept him for ourselves if he had still being ready to jump the BSJA curcuit without too much work/time, but like Teffy said he never had the opportunity after being sold by the Whitaker's. Never the less he does have the breeding, jumping ability and temperament to produce top class jumping ponies and certainly sounds like he would suit your mare.
I can't comment on any other stallion's as I am a real 'breeding virgin', but good luck with who ever you choose to use.
