Can't believe how much people will pay for some things.
There are a couple of tail socks for sale current bids are £26 and £30 but on the website you can buy them for £10 Why on earth do people want to pay so far over the odds?
I did look into them but decided they would be nice to put on for traveling away from home but you would want 2 as i wouldn't fancy rolling up a poop covered long sock to put on my horses tail!

I sell on ebay and received £220 for an item i usually sell@ £180.
I also bought a pair of boxer shorts for £3 embroidered them with the words "if you think this is big you should see the size of my v8. they sold for £37!!

I saw someone selling pe magnet wraps the other day manky old and dirty - went for £90 totally tcrazy when you can get them brand new for a lot less than that!

I've watched a few pe rugs and shocked at how close to the price of a new one they go for, by the time the buyer adds p&p and getting rug cleaned they could have brought a new one!

Yep often happens! I was watching some thorowgood girths second hand and they were going at £15 plus postage... they retail new at £20!

I sold a very used pair of hunter wellies in summer. They were puple gloss and had marks on the sides from where I wore them for work experience and rode a few times in them. They were a gift and I grew out of them got £64 for.them and they are only around £70 new! Bonkers!

I had this with prams. Both times I sold a pram on eBay I got nearly the brand new price, despite I'd had each one for a year or so. And I remember, one person drove about an hour to collect one of them. Now I know that having kids turns your brain to mush, but really!

Depends how far away the buyers are from saddleries. I've sold cheap thing such as wintec gullets for £25 but the buyer has been in the outer hebridies or the wilds of Wales.

Well one went for £35 and other for £38 plus £3 p&p funny enough they tell you on the video that shows you how to put the socks on that you can use a tail bandage with it, and you would probably need to as you basicly scrunch the sock up on your arm then pull the tail through, and if you were not careful you could easily have a tail that resembled a loo brush :-D

hi,

With some buyers I suppose it depends on how easy it is for them to source items locally and for others it's the thrill of the chase.

Some years ago when Ebay was fairly new my now bro-in-law messaged bidders about an item he found. A kitchen scale - advertised as ideal to weight ebay items - £5 from Wilkinsons - bidding had reached over £15  (not inc. postage) and felt it was his duty to 'educate' bidders of their folly .

I once bought a pair of secondhand Woof Boots from the local saddlery for £12 and sold them on ebay 6 years later for £32 madness

there was also a pair of trousers I bought for 99p on ebay wore them for a year and sold them for £27 (apparently that designer had taken off)

and an old hunting jacket that was black bought from the local saddlery for £25 used for a few years then sold on ebay for £145

to be fair I like bidders who are that mad!

On the other hand I only got £60 for a pair of brand new, never used black leather Ariat Volant show chaps that cost £159 (still sad about that!). I lose.

Oh my god I know, I find it really weird how much people will pay for completely trashed old tat, in the equestrian section especially and then I can hardly make pittance for something decent!

I did have a person last week trying to haggle me down hard for a pair of toggi riding boots I was selling, on the grounds they were a not for profit organisation, they were up for 40 pounds inc postage, I had bought them for that, bargain but they were too big so I was happy as long as I made the money back. They sent me looaads of messages and then bid then I had to cancel for them because I wouldn't end the auction early (why would I?), thankfully someone else bid in the end. Remind me to sell a knackered old tail bandage next time!

Ha on a serious note, if you bid on the snow man surely you enter a selling contract? But then I suppose you don't receive the item so don't have to pay :p

Think I might have a sort out, got a few bits and bobs especially rugs that I have from my boy I lost :( time to let them go I think. I love eBay as its so easy to make money but some people do go way too far ha.

Trouble is that things either go for a pittance or way above their worth!
Snowman looks a real bargain though, shame we can't see the picture of him.
