The last two days have not really gone according to plan. It all started on Wednesday night when Peter and I brought the babies in. It was a little windy and we got them through the field gate and set off.....all was going well until Kirkby jumped at some monster hiding behind a tree and Maisey was off! We got to the second gate where Peter and I swapped horses so he could have Maisey but when I turned round she was gone......off round the lovely carpark that the landlord has made for us!!! Kirkby thought this was a big game and then proceeded to follow her. They went and trotted round all the wonderful safe farm machinery that the landlord has left lying around before choosing Lily to talk to round the back. We just shut the gate and went to find them. SO last night we were prepared.....or so we thought!!!! We shut the gate to the yard, armed our selves with carrots and went to catch the little darlings! It was gale force by this point, nearly dark and starting to rain so it was fair to say that things were not on our side. I got Kirkby's headcollar on but Maisey was naughty and kicking out with her front legs (not something she usually does) and caught Peter on his leg. We set off and I can honestly say I did not have a great deal of control lover Kirkby ...but I had expected this...however Maisey was the devils child!!! She tried to take Peter off across the carpark but he was ready so then she thought a trip up the rubble (also left by landlord) would be fun...this is where Peter got cross!! In Kirkby's defence I do have to say that while we stood to wait for Maisey to descend down the rubble mountain he was very well behaved. Eventually we installed them in their bedrooms and went back to get Millie and Mez...the sensible ones HAHAHAHA!!! On reaching the top yard we discovered the yard gate OPEN and the landlords 16 year old daughter round the back on the quad. When I told her the horses had been loose and we had shut the gate on purpose she just laughed! This is the girl who thinks she can run this yard when I leave!!!
Mez and Millie had come over to the gate by the time we got back so headcollars on, well Millies anyway...Mez was doing her impression of being head shy (like I beat her daily!) for Peter. Off we went..OMG this trip was even worse! Millie was on one and gets very strong and took me headlong in the dark into the piles of plainings that the landlord had left in the middle of the yard!!!! Mez however was showing Peter how tall she was and how the dressage training was paying off as she could now canter a 2m circle and stand up at the beginning and the end! Unfortunately for Peter she landed on top of his foot before careering into the pile of plainings and getting a telling off. The landlords daughter watched all this and then left the yard and the gate wide open.....it beggers belief! So Peter limped to the top yard and went to take his wellie off before his foot swelled up. Blimey!!! I changed rugs and went to check on Peter. He has a swollen foot and a bruised leg today. So needless to say they have all stayed in today as I think it is even windier today than yesterday.

I took Mez in the indoor and lunged her after lunch and she was as good as gold.....obviously trying to make amends for last night! If you listen carefully to the video above you can hear the wind, it was roaring outside. I use the draw reins like this to encourage her to stretch down long and low and it has improved in the trot but is not having much effect in the canter yet!
Yesterday I decided I would ride Mez outside so I took the 4X4 and levelled the surface first....well that was the plan until the car got stuck in deep sand next to the wall.....the school has just been made by the landlord too......a recurring theme here!!!! So I rang Peter, then tried to unhitch the leveller which was not easy. Then I stood and had a cry as it had hurt my shoulder,
I rang to order some hay earlier and we had a very confused conversation as I thought it was Tuesday and she had to explain to me that it was Friday!!!
