well... thought people could do with a little chuckle

my friends horse (16.3hh, warmblood type) likes to have rugs on, but because he is a little fluffy now he gets too warm in his stable rug.. when he gets too warm he wriggles in it till he can get the tail strap thing off and so the rug is pulled further back than it should be. then he grabs the back of it and pulls it over his head!! WITH all the straps done up and steps out of it with his front legs... the rug is then left ion a lovely pile and poo'ed all over!! It just made me laugh how he sulks if they dont put his rugs on, yet he then goes and does this :D:D

Mine Does this!

By January last year he had totally trashed 4 rugs and rendered 2 unusable until mended.

We would find them in piles in the field, stamped on, pooped on and often ripped to shreds, with the straps hanging off but strangely all the buckles still done up???????

Then my YO installed CCTV footage!!!! which showed him out in the paddock instructing his 18month old field pal (he was 6 and should be setting an example!) on the finer points of how to pull on a rug , he actually had his rug in his mouth pulling at it and was nudging baby Ed as if to say “like this mate” eventually baby Ed caught on and assisted himself in ripping the front straps off. He then graduated to pulling on the belly straps until they gave up the ghost at which point my Darling (for that read Pritt Stick!) proceeded to step out od the rug they then played tug of war until it finally gave up the ghost. My YO was laughing so hard he almost wet himself, I was simply wondering where the gun was.

When left alone he will happily get the straps in his mouth and pull on them till they give way then coolly step out of them and walk away.....his rugs now make him look like an escapologist or bondage victim depending on the amount of strapping!

The baby field pal of course having been taught this great trick used to unzip and take of the rug of any other horse he was turned out with!! he stopped when we turned him out with the mares for a few hours:-))

My revenge will be sweet we are intending to move to the Scottish Highlands….I am thinking turned out 24/7, field shelter and if he wants a rug he will have to learn to beg :-))
