Made my decision - thanks to everyone who replied

just to update on my decision regarding keeping my horse versus selling her and buying a Warmblood for sale at my yard versus putting my horse in foal and buying the warmblood as well...

It was really really helpful to read everyone's thoughts when I posted about this. It really made it clear to me that I couldn't afford 2 horses (let alone 2 and a foal) so it came down to 'did I want the Warmblood more than Polly' .

And, after much soul searching, the answer turned out to be No.

Turns out I love my naughty, trixy, sensitive little mare more than I realised because when I thought about parting with her, I just felt totally gutted. Ok, she might be a bit small for me but I've decided I don't care

So the Warmblood has found a new home with a girl who wants to get some confidence back to BSJA which will suit him down to the ground as he is sweet and keen to learn in his jumping. And Polly and I had a wicked time showjumping over the weekend and are looking forward to the Area12 qualifiers in June.

I will be at Bath and West Areas on the Saturday doing the Sj and also at the Horse trials qualifier. I was going to do team dressage but thought that might be a bit too much trying to compete against all the dressage divas! Come and say hello.
 
I'm glad you came to a decision that suited you. Isn't it funny how sometimes we don't appreciate what we've got until we consider being without it?

I hope you carry on having lots of fun with your mare!
 
hey, cool. I'm really looking forward to it. I was thinking about doing the Workers as well but you have to pay £45 p/n for stabling which I think is outrageous so we're just going up on the Saturday and doing a little ODE thing on the Sunday near Cullumpton on the Sun.

Maybe I will see you there tho! I'm hoping to improve on my last qualifying performance wherein we jumped the first 4 jumps perfectly then had 3 refusals at fence 5 (totally my fault)

However I was still deep within the grips of my post-accident confidence crash at that point and also it was all indoor which I hate so I'm feeling more positive about the Bath and West LOL

so true! I think because Polly and I fall out so often (she is very trying at times

) it is easy to feel negative about her, espeically when you are also getting to ride a very green, keen to learn, not especially bright 4yro old gelding. But at the end of the day the reason I bought her was because I went to catch her one day, called her name and she turned around, ears pricked, eyes bright, saw it was me... flattened her ears and stomped off looking really cross.

It made me laugh so much and I saw so much of myself in her that I just fell head over heels for her. I don't think i would want an 'easy' horse.
