Hi everyone! Some advice needed from you. Yesterday came to the stables, and found what Magics left hind is swollen quite a lot, fetlock area and up. Not hot,not sensitive, feels bit firm, but not hard and not soft and squidgy. Walking trotting fine, not lame, weight bearing, turning on a tight circle no problems. Cold hosed it for 15 min,put cooling gel on and went for a walk in hand for 20 min, then cold hosed it again, swelling went down a bit. This morning it's still swollen, but less then it was yesterday when we left.
Now any advice would be great. He kept out 24/7,so i cant stable him.Do i need to bandage or not? Just what to do and what it can be?No lumps, bumps and cuts on this leg.
Thanks!:(

a reaction to a fly bite maybe?
keep doing what you are doing with cold hosing and if it doesnt go down or Magic starts going lame then call the vet.

You could bandage, i wouldnt personally. i would cold hose and turn out. Is there anyone that could cold hose for 10mins every now and again while you are not there?

Hope Magic is better soon xxx

As long as the swelling is slowly going down I wouldn't worry too much, it could be a reaction to a bite or he could have taken a knock, maybe a kick if hes in with others? I would just carry on doing as you are, cold hosing etc.. And as long as any lameness or heat doesn't appear and the swelling continues to go down I wouldn't worry. Obviously if it doesn't go down for a couple of days then ring the vet.. Good luck

Immy x
