My horse goes really nicely in a magic bit but unfortunately it's not dressage legal. He has a fat tongue and is v sensitive - can anyone suggest a dressage legal alternative?

I've read posts about the Myler snaffles, but unsure which one this actually is?

Thanks :)

i am also looking for an alternative!! my boy goes beautifully in it- i am going to try a straight bar loose ring, will try to let you know how we get on! xx

I'd not heard of magic snaffles but googled and a low port myler looks similar but mylers have roller... Google images low port myler snaffle. Not too sure on how it works - I have a myler because mine doesn't like jointed bits

Ps not sure if low port is dressage legal though in hindsight so that may be no use whatsoever! Apologies if so

One of my horses has a large tongue and goes better in a ported Myler but obviously that is not dressage legal so I have a NS Verbidend which she really likes. It lies forward in her mouth giving more room for her tongue and as she frequently gets her tongue over her bits I have found that because the Verbidend lies forward she hasn't got her tongue over it.

My little cob x goes well in his magic snaffle. We might try a straight bar hanging cheek. We tried a french link fFulmer at a dressage thing last week and it was awful, he leaned really badly in it. Also looking for an alternative!

The myler bits that are dressage legal are MB01, MB02, MB03 MB09 all the others aren't. Hope that helps. I school my (fat tounged) warmblood in a MB43LP at home and when we compete we use a MB02. I find this combo works really well for him an he is comfortable with it.

Thanks that's useful to know, it was the MB02 loose ring I was looking at so I may give that a try.

For those of you who didn't know what the magic snaffle is, it's this (amazing for my boy and his fat tongue!)
