Is it worth buying a branded calmer or can I just buy a bag of magnesium for horses off ebay?
Horse is a bit stressed after ditching his loaner on a hack and running home. I am heavily pregnant so can't do anything riding-wise to settle him back down. He's a sensitive soul! He is a very good doer so can't reduce feed any more as he gets only a token to carry his rosehips and milk thistle (lami prone!) with equibites for vits and mins. He's at grass 24/7 so could be magnesium deficient?
ANy ideas?

Why pay for manufacturers name packaging and retail mark up - if your horse is deficient in magnesium, straaightforward magnesium oxide with redress the balance without all that other stuff. Most land in the country is, I am told, short of mg, and it may be that a flush of grass has tipped the balance. The cheapest way to diagnose is to see whether he responds to the addition of magox - if you don't see a difference in a couple of weeks, the problem isn't magnesium.
