My 4 yr old mare is a typical mare and hormonal esp when in season. I have tlaked to the vet about using regumate and the stud that bred her and some have also said magnesium oxide or cal mag. do either of the4se work? Is she likely to be deffecient in it or not?? she is currently ridden 4 times week, doesnt have lot of grass due to lack of rain but does look at all pooh, has large double handfull alpha beet whcih is then soaked, scoop dengie alpha A and scoop dengie balancer plus access to horselyx. Vet did say a small number of horses she has know work with herbs but a lot it is phsycholiogical. plus they are expensive.
Where can i get magnesuim from cheapest to try. When not in season she is good, chilled etc.

I give my mare equine America magnitude, this is a magnesium calmer. Not sure how much of a difference it makes because she has had it since she arrived, so she could just be calmer because she is more settled. But is costs eighteen quid for a six month supply so she may as well stay on it. The grass is pretty poor at our yard so she could be deficient and if she isn't it is unlikely to do any harm.

I use cal mag off, of ebay. £10 for a bag and last agees. There has been several others on our yard that have gone over to it since and all are happy with it.

Google cal mag and you'll see just what happens if they are deficient in it and what the effects are. Quite an eye opener.

Given that its a hormone driven issue I would try Evening Primrose Oil! Very well nown remedy and I have seen it work in humans, canines & equines!
