Having already asked about feed suppliments for joints last night, I'm now wondering about the use of magnets?

My farrier said that Ralph was getting a bit stiff behind, he's 13 or 14, not too sure as he is a rescue, but have known him since he was approx 1yr old.

He has had an odd lameness behind, we thought at first an abscess and policed. Vet has had a look, digital pulses up but not really sure, farrier could not find anything! So, box rest 1 month.

Swelling/heat gone from foot/fetlock, tracking up and sound in trot. Has got some wingalls. I was wondering considering his age now and the swelling/stiffness that maybe magnetic boots will help?? Along with a good joint suppliment??

Any views on magnetic boots will be greatly recieved

They definitely have an effect, used some several years ago and they had to be taken off in the middle of the night as the horse was v. agitated. My sis tried them recently and again lots of prancing and sweating.

I have veredus magnetic boots for Robbie and I love them. Robbie is about 14 years and started to get puffy legs when he stood in and a friends reccomended these boots. They are expensive but very well made. I've not had any problems with him wearing them. One of the horse magazines did a test last month??? I remember reading that you shouldn't use them if you have a pregnant mare or human!

i use the premier equine ones and they def make a noticable difference to my mums horse, who is 13yo and *just* starting to show a bit of stiffness.

Same here, my mare is 19 and gets stiff back legs she has the premier equine ones on every night and they make a huge difference.

My mare is definitely better with them, but I have to put them on her back legs as if they are on the front she removes them, so they must irritate her in some way.

Sorry to hear Ralph has not been right.

We use magetic boots alot, its one of those things that along with other good management seems to ease symptoms.

We have used Armidillo products which have very strong magnet and can only be used for a maximum of four hours a day.

I am not a fan of leaving them on overnight and instead tend to prefer stable chaps or leg wraps which keep the legs and joints warm.

I also use a magnet rug from William Funnell it's cheap and cheerful but seems to do the trick.

Definitely - they have helped my arthritic horse, as well as my arthritic mother. I was very sceptical at first, but the difference they made is very obvious and my mother has a much increased range of motion in her arthritic shoulder (she could barely move this at all in winter). My horse wears them 24/7 (magnetic bands) and a magetic rug when stabled.

If you have any questions pm me as I actually became an agent for equimagnets as they worked so well people wanted to buy them from me. You have to introduce the use of the magnets gradually and carefully which not a lot of people do. Also you have to be careful not to use them directly after acute injuries, injections etc etc.

I've been using stable boots and hoof boots for the past few years and they defiantley have helped my mare. She is 16 and suffers from laminitis related issues, aswell as mobility problems and these do help. You do need to gradually introduce them, but they are a very good therapeutic product

Thank you for all your replies, I will invest in a pair of boots and hopefully along with a good joint suppliment, he will be bouncing back soon

The way he squealed and bucked in the school today, I dont think there's too much to worry about
