I am not sure where this should be, so I thought I would put it on here...

Grace has one swollen back leg. It is not making her lame, and I have had the vet out who explained she looked to have a bit of lympangitis caused by an infection being allowed in through her very bad mud rash this year. He said to bandage it at night, which I did for a while, but then the vet said to now leave it unbandaged as she was going out more.

However, it is still quite swollen when she has been stood in over night, but goes down with exercise. Someone has suggested trying her in some magnetic boots.

Can these be worn over night?

Has anyone had any success with them for puffy legs?

Can anyone suggest a make?

Thanks,

Rebecca x

If you go into the veterinary section of the forum and search for magnetic boots then you will get loads of info up as we have had amny a debate about this subject...some swear by it...others think its complete poppy cock!! I personally beleive its one of the latter but you go have a read and see what you think

Thanks will go and have a look... willing to try anything to bring the swelling down at this moment in time as she looks like a grandma with no ankle

Havent tried the magnetic boots but have exactly the same problem with Limbo. Just recently the leg looks a little puffy, thought he had got rid of the acute lymphangitis that he had late last year. Strange as he has been out in the field every day recently. I have been working him again, so shall just keep an eye on it for now. Sorry, not much use to you, just thought I would sympathise!

Thanks... I am determined to get on top of it though, so was trying to find out a bit more about the magnetic boots. I used to work for Equissage, so I know that would work fantastically well on it, but just cannot afford one at the moment

Oh, Just wanted to add - I had magnetic therapy done on my knee (torn ligaments and overall damage from a massive kick - consistent post - op swelling etc) and whether it was a placebo or not it worked wonders!
Whether it works for horses...never tried so won't comment.

i had some bioflow boots and put them on in the stable-the area were they were was completely fine and not swollen, however it seemed to push the swelling lower down.

I use veredus magnetic boots on my mare that gets lymphangitus ( can never spell it!!) have had fantastic results with them on a day to day basis legs arent swollen at all if she has to be kept in they swell slightly but nothing like they used to in normal bandages.
I leave mine on over night all winter (generally 3 ish till 7 or 8 the next morning ) if she stays in through the day i take them off ( no idea why just habit!!)
Have to say they are one product i couldnt manage without now
