For Horse who has severe side bone.

I know we are not talking cure here but I am thinking anything that helps to keep the status quo.

Any feedback on the use of Magnetic boots, I know they increase the blood flow to the area and are supposed to assist with stiffness.

Anyone feed a Joint Supplement for this condition? Is it worth adding Cortaflex to his feed?

And finally I have been reading up on herbal supplements which include Devils Claw which works as a herbal pain killer and anti inflammatory, any feed back on this would be great.

Your feedback as ever will be greatly appreciated.

Hi firstly sorry about your horses sidebone, i saw the xrays they were very interesting!
Magnetic boots, iif you are to use them only use one at a time as not many people are aware they are designed to be sued with the horse standing perfectly still even in the stable as soon as they move the magnetic fields repel eachother and thus causing strain to the legs higher up (knees/fetlocks) as the legs are actually pushed apart. The way to overcome this is to only use 1 at a time. They are good for arthritic horses and i am using them currently to reduce a splint but mine is a homemade magnetic boot!! haha
Devils claw i have used and a few people on our yard use it. I found it to be useful as a pain relief aid and one mare who has arthritic hocks has it daily and is kept sound enough for light work.
Cortaflex i am not sure would help necessarily as that is for joints to aid the fluid being kept to keep joints smooth (im not exactly certain of sidebone) but not sure that would help and could just be an expensive waste of money! Ask your vet they may tell you more.
Good luck

I have some bioflow magnetic boots, they seem to help a little. Although I have the brushing boots and would recommend the wraps as they make my boys legs sweat, being neoprene.
