Am hoping this is in the right place, apologies if not. I have some hock boots for my boy, he's 20 years, hock arthritis , which has been medicated. I went to put the boots on, and have never seen such a violent reaction, he lifted a leg, and then began to struggle to remain upright, almost fell, but saved himself! I was pretty quick to get out pf the way, although I didnt expect that reaction as he has worn them in the past. I would like to use something on his hocks, but he doesn't seems to approve of the hock boots, he isn't keen on travel boots either so I don't use them. Does anyone have any ideas,?
 
Some horses don't like the feeling of something around the hock or high up on the leg, you can try and persevere but I find its not worth it as they probably do more damage kicking out and potentially making contact with a wall and causing more pain to themselves.

Exactly, I shan't be trying them again, but wondered if there was anything less restrictive that I could use.

I just use thermatex leg wraps on my horse that has hock arthritis as he won't tolerate anything on the hock, I use them when its really cold if his in at night and I put them on for about an hour before I ride and I think they do help the stiffness a bit.

I try and put them as high on the leg as I can without him getting pissed off ?

think this is the way to go, I have some Leggits that i can use. Thankyou all for your replies x
