Does anyone have any recommendations for a magnetic pastern band or wrap (similar to a human wristband)? I want one that will hang quite low as my horse tore her tendon quite low down by the pastern joint rather than up nearer the fetlock. I've seen one on the Hosefair website for £25 but does anyone have any recommendations or know of any cheaper?

ebay is a good place to look for such wraps.I recently brought a pair of magnetic hock boots for less than £30 and they are great.Look for neodymium magnets as these are the most powerful ones and also make sure the total gauss is over 800 as any less and they won't be much use.

Oops, I missed that someone had replied!
I've looked at eBay but nothing interesting on there. Only Aerborn pastern wraps occasionally but they're £60! I've just bought a whole set of Veredus magnetic boots for her to wear overnight (neodymium ones) and I just want a small band to have on her during the day. Might have to order the one from Horsefair if it looks like that's the only one!
Thanks.

Bio flow have some really good ones, some cheaper ones the magets are weaker, it often pays to just pay a little more! Google it to find your local person. PM me if you would like the name of someone this way who can send you a brochure.

On Cairo I use straps from a company called Magnetic.

http://www.magnetic.uk.com/contact.php

These are thin straps that are designed to be worn 24 x 7, much like a human wristband.

They are £25 each but mine are still in great condition after nearly two years of constant use.

They do not cause any heat and I have had no problems with rubbing - he has them so I can just get my finger underneath. They have never come undone or caused any problems in Cairo's case.

I second what Theresa has said. She recommended this company when FLora had a bruised sole/pedal bone last year, and she has worn her magnetic band ever since. She is a v thin skinned TB, but it has never rubbed or come off, and the company are v quick to process the order.

Pleased to hear that they worked for you so well.

Whilst I totally agree with the science that they should do nothing, when Cairo had cancer treatment and they were removed for three weeks, he was pottery in front again. Put them back on and after a week he is very much improved.

This has happened on both occasions they have been removed, hence why I now never take them off unless I have to. People don't know he wears them as they are hidden by his feather.

My 21 year old mare has had one of the bands recommended by theresaF on for 18 months now. she is part arab and it hasn't rubbed or come off, even through winter. Not really sure if it is doing any good but daren't take it off now in case it is!!. she is very stiff on a back leg due to a hamstring injury.
