I'm planning on buying some pastern wraps for my horse with mild arthritis in 1 of his pasterns, is it necessary to put them on both pasterns to balance them out or should I just put one on his bad pastern? I'm not sure which make to get yet, but they aren't too expensive as far as I know.

i love bioflow boots jack wears them while turned out in the day when hes in work. hes had his boots for 6 years !! i'm not sure about using them while riding as i read somewhere about not using them for heavy work (makes the tendons over heat) but i've seen people use magnetic tendon boots at shows so not sure about that???

I have some magnetic wraps for Axey as his legs used to fill when he was in overnight, they must have worked as they stopped them filling and I don't need to use them anymore!
If I've been to a show or he's worked hard I pop them on overnight, and his legs are always fine the next day.

I have bioflow stable wraps and used them when Star had a tendon injury. Not sure how much they influence the tendon, but they certainley influenced her kidneys........we were awash with wee for 2 nights

According to science they should not work. However, when I put straps on Cairo's front legs - he was very lame with ringbone within a few days there was a big improvement. In two weeks he went from 4 bute a day to 1 and within a month was off bute and back in light work.

He recently more arthritic problems - now on the hind end. He has had d some bone has snap where the ligiments attach and as a result he has had tendon problems. I put a strap on this leg and the tendon has gone down within the week by about a third and he is far more sound than he was.

I personally think they do something - certainly for Cairo. He wears his straps permanently - they are designed for this. Remove them and he goes lame in front, put them back on and he goes sound. I am now going to get one for the final leg and he will wear bands on all legs all the time like a lot of people do.

Fascinating reading: where do you get the pastern wraps from? I have Googled Bioflow and the websites look a bit dodgy. I can see tendon wraps but no pastern wraps.

Can the tendon boots be left on all day / night out in the field? I was looking at the Premier equine magnetic wraps that have just been launched but they recommend you should not leave them on for more than 4 hours, (not very practical when you work!).
