I know this is probably meant to be in the veterinary section, but I just wanted to get some feedback here first...

After another Osteo session today, we think that my horse has a bit of arthritis in his hip/ pelvis... I would love to compete him next season just at intro level, but only if he is happy to do so (and I do know him quite well - he'd 'tell me' if he wasnt happy/ in pain..).. would also like to find a few supplements/ therapies which may help..

A few people have suggested magnetic boots - I was then thinking about trying the Rug, as it would go directly over the problem area..

Has any one had a good experience with magnets - do you think they work??

Any comments greatly appreciated

My Bioflow boots *appear* to keep my horse's swelling down when she's stabled. I don't *think* they do anything else much TBH. I know a few people who swear by magnets to help their arthritic horses.
We all know the scientific argument so I won't go into that

I have the bioflow tendon wraps for both my horses, my youngster could be stiff in the mornings after exercise, he is a big lad, my other one is 31 so he got bought them automatically for his 30th! Must say, i am very pleased with the results for both of them, young one is definately less stiff in the mornings and drinks more water (guess this flushes lactic acid, like it does with humans) and my veteran is amazing with them (almost too amazing!)

I only put them on at night, but found they have helped all sorts of minor problems too (including my veterans eczma and hair loss on his face he used to suffer...no more?!)

They do a guarantee on the bioflow, and i think a money back thing, so can't loose really.

Good luck with them.

I used the magnetic wraps for my old chap who's hind fetlock would swell up when in the stable. They seem to have stopped this happening. Don't know if it's the magnets or the fact his legs are kept warm with the wraps. I just use them overnight on his hind legs

Heyy

Have some magnetic hock boots and they've practically made his capped hock dissapear, would defo recommend magnets

Got my boots from equimagnets.com and I think they do a rug.

Thanks - I think I may give it a go then.... At the end of the day, a spend a fortune on all the supplements etc, so in terms of expenditure it cant be that much more...

Bioflow seem to be popular? I'll have a look at them

Still, as long as she gets on and does her job eventing, I'll not get too worked up about it!! As for breeding, dont think Ive got the time or money for it!!

Whats happened with your horse situation? Hopefully find out later!!

i bought some NEW brushing boots for my horse when he was ill and having to be walked out for 20 mins. Before I bought the boots he was very sluggish, the first day I put them on he was striding out much better, dont know if they helped but seemed to

I use magnets on both of mine. They each have a rug and the wraps for various parts of their bodies which keep getting injured - capped hocks, various swellings from bashing about the field. One of them has a sacroiliac injury which is why I investigated the use of magnet therapy.

I was so impressed with the results that I became an agent for the company (Equimagnets) - loads of people have ordered the rug kit after seeing mine!

Hi - this has been so useful! Too much choice though, I had a look on equimagnets and they have two types for the legs. My mare has really bad wingals and has had a tendon injury. Can anyone recogmend which ones to use?

The Centurion Magnetic rugs are fantastic for sore/tired muscles but we generally use the low settings to make the horse feel very relaxed and warm. They are not good with mares that may be ovulating though, so be careful. The tenden boot is grest for immediate reduction in swelling and over a process of time, general healing. I have three rugs plus two boots and the new thing that they have just brought out to help with nasal congestion - hopefully this will be as good as the rugs !

They are expensive and by the way I am not any way connected with Centurion, I show jump on the international circiut.
