Just read a thread about Magnetic therapy on here and it prompted me to see if they could help my TB who stocks up awfully around his hind pasterns when he is left in overnight. He's currently wrapped up in stable bandages at night on his hind legs and it does stop them puffing up slightly but I was wondering if magnetic boots could benefit him any better.

His legs go down quite quickly with movement (within a good 10/15 minutes of schooling they go down) and they're fine when he's out in the field it's just when he's left in they tend to stock up.

A person on my yard has a horse with the same problem and says they work better than stable bandages and swears by the magnetic boots.
Does anyone else have any experience with this?
:)

There is no scientific proof magnetic boots/rugs etc work. However there is proof they are warmer than normal products - not sure if this is because they're thicker or the magnets reflect the body heat back or something else but whatever the reason the extra heat is probably what makes the difference :)

Have you checked thoroughly for mud fever and/or cracked heels? My boys legs tends to swell if he even has one or two scabs.
Just a thought

Yep checked for everything. Also had the vet inspect and check him over and everything is fine. Vet said its due to lack of movement around the stable and fluid build up so I was just curious if the magnet boots could prove beneficial for him.

I first used them on an arthritic horse mare who was extremely stiff and lame even on bute. She wore the boots for the 1st 24 hrs as recommended and then 12 hrs on, 12 hrs off. She was in overnight. The 1st morning she was less stiff than usual and then *trotted* in at tea-time. I was absolutely amazed. She got so that she offered me her legs to have the boots put on, so I assume that she felt the benefit of them.
I also used them on another stiff horse and althoughthe effect was not so dramatic, they seemed to work. I have lent them to other people and they have made no difference to their horses ( a variety of conditions). They were recommended to me by someone who puts them on her laminitic pony at the 1st sign of footiness - and he usually comes sound.
Hope that helps.

Thanks! Guess it just totally depends on the horse.
Brilliant to hear about the arthritic mare, hope she is still doing well :)

It was very sad at the time because it was a shock but she would have been pts sooner without the boots. She was a very affectionate drama queen, who taught us a lot and we have some lovely memories of her.
I can only describe the recovery as miraculous and tbh I don't think I would have believed the sudden difference, if I hadn't seen it for myself.

Thanks for sharing your experience :) It has encouraged me to try magnetic therapy for my lad.
She sounded lovely, such a shame but I'm impressed how the boots made such a positive impact on her life.

I find the magenetic boots useful too, my horse does have arthritis, and it does help with that, and also with preventing filling in the legs overnight too.

Two weeks ago I got some back on track hock wraps for my boy, they are brilliant, I find they work better than magnetic boots for my horse .

I use magnets an an arthritic pony. They worked wonders on her. She was on one sachet of bute a day but she doesn't have any now. She wears brod pod magnets made by the bioflow people.
