Anyone used magnotherapy products with any success??

My 6yo has a suspensory strain and has been put onto box rest so we are trying every avenue possible. I have very kindly been lent a bioflow rug and boots but as yet remain very sceptical about them.

Would appreciate the experiences of others. Thanks!

I use them all the time. You need to make sure that you don't overuse any magnetic product as the circulatory system becomes lazy like if you have too many colonics

I have used them on a ddft tear injury and a hock that has been broken and occasionally swells up. I also use them on windgalls. the only thing you need to be wary of is to not to use it if the skin is broken as it will interfer with the healing process of clotting.
They definately work in my opinion as they stimulate circulation; all you have to do it wrap one around your knee or arm for a while and you will feel the effects. Anything that encourages circulation is brilliant for healing injuries such as this.
Are you using ice too? I make comfry poultices and freeze them then apply to the site of the injury until they melt. Watch out for ice burn if your horse is a little sensitive.
As long as you don't abuse magnetic therapy, even if you don't think it is working, it is certainly doing no harm!
Have they advised about controlled movement at all and have you been offered a referal to a physio?
The most improtant thing is to reuce the amount of scar tissue on tendons and ligaments and this makes the healed product far less resilient.
I also feed clivers (goose grass/ sticky buds) for injuries such as this as they are rich in silica and help cell regeneration, they are growing in abundance at this time of year (just make sure you don't pick them in an area where they spray or near the side of the road) so they are free! I find footpaths or woodland a good source for them
Also hawthorn is fantastic for circulation to the small capiliaries and stimulating circulation in any way is the way forward. I feed three handfulls a day and again it has the added bonus of it being free!!

I like you was sceptical, but having used them on various friends horses over the last couple of years for swelling, arthiritis, tendon, suspensory injuries and also to help a horse recover from a kissing spine operation totally recommend them. I have the rug and boots, boots can stay on for 23 hours a day which is good, I have used the rug on a very tense mare to travel in and she comes off lorry without any tension through the back, but its like everything it works for some and not others, magnets keep blood flowing and so can aid recovery. I also let my horses eat our Hawthorn bush as Silverbreeze says and it also helps their teeth as well my horses love it.

I was also sceptical but a friend gave me magnets after i hurt my back and they really helped and i could feel the heat that came from where i had them. I have since bought a pair of boots for my older horse with great results.

i was very sceptical about them too but i have used them on my guy when get got diagnoised with arthiritis in his coffin joint. i used magnetic over reach boots daily and i also used a magnectic collar on my old dog and it helps him so after all the i did go and buy a magnectic wrist band for myself and i have to admit i think it helps my joints!!
