Maiden Mare - did you catch first time?

My 10 year old maiden mare is due off to stud next month (very nervous) and of course we understand she may not even take on her first cycle ...

How did your mares go with their first foal? Did they take first time?
 
:)hi, our maiden 15yrs of age took first time by AI, unfortunetly had stillborn at term, but took first time again last year and fingers crossed for early july this year!Good luck with your mare!
 
Wow, never mind us, good luck with yours ... bet you're very excited/nervous?

What happened to the foal? Had it already died or died whilst she gave birth?
 
Hi, yes died when she gave birth,we are trying not to get to excited taking one day at a time,with two monthly scans atm.:)
 
Yes the nine year old maiden mare that is close to foaling here took first time with one natural covering. Hard to believe that something that is over so quick can result in a foal!

Mandy, so sorry to hear about the loss of your foal last year. I hope all goes well this time. I am nervous as hell for the mare at my yard and she isn't even mine. But I love her very much.
 
My 10 year old maiden took First time natural, however my 18 year old took 7th time! And 2 yrs of trying with ai and 3 diff stallions!. Both had healthy foals so I feel that what I spent on the older one was evened out by the 10 year old!
 
I have one maiden that had 4 failed AI attempts (starting when she was 14) and finally took from one natural covering aged 16. Her foal is my avatar, & is now a yearling.

Second mare took first time (we didn't even see her get covered) aged 8, also maiden, natural covering. She is due May time :)
 
Hi my 7 yr old maiden mare took first time AI - due in a couple of weeks and off to the marternity ward tomorrow - argh, keeping fingers crossed that everything is going to be ok!
 
My maiden mare also took 1st time in hand, with one covering. I was very lucky that all went well and she had a lovely colt last year. Hope all goes well for you and all :)
