Maiden Mare.......not much belly?

Hiya, My 5yr old maiden mare is 320 days this weekend and is hiding baby really well. In fact some days she does not look pregnant!

She is quite fit for a broodmare and up until 2 weeks ago was going on the walker for half an hour a day, just to stretch her legs.

Does anyone else have a mare who hides her pregnancy? She is just starting to get udder changes and there is definately some movement ........ think she is carrying it quite high!

It has been questioned if she just has trapped wind.....if it is then it'll be the most expensive fart ever!!

We have one mare in particular that doesnt look pregnant until about six weeks before foaling and this is her fourth foal.
Her last three foals were fairly big so they can be very deceptive.What is your mares breeding and stallion she is in foal to?

She's a 16hh ISH ( by Cult Hero)and is in foal to a 16.3hh Coloured Sports horse(Country Lone Ranger) . She is one of two maidens due in the next week or so but is tiny compared to the other mare!

Knowing my luck my order of a leggy coloured colt wont happen.......and it'll pop out a bay shetland instead!

You may be very surprised.Your mare could fool you.Do a bit of reverse psychology and she may give you what you want.

The cult hero mares seem to be doing very well for themselves so you may have a potential superstar on your hands.

Dont know much about Cult Hero really, she's a very nice mare though - just has a bit of attitude when ridden, otherwise a real sweetie!

my mare is currently 290 days and really has very little belly. She is bigger than usual but definately not got a big pregnant looking belly. I'm actuallly glad some one else has a mare who is carrying the same way. I'm getting sick of everyone asking how long she has to go and when i tell them they just say how small she is. oh and my mare is a maiden too and was in good work up till she went to stud last april.

Ha Ha..... tell me about it!

When my vet came around 4 weeks ago to give her a jab, he commented on how small she was. He said if he didnt know she was pregnant then he would be questioning it........ our mares are obviously 'supermodel' mummys and will snap back into shape pretty quickly!

Good news is that today she started waxing up...although she does not really have a bag, just chubby teats!
